reasons for a low brow position, genetics and age. Many people have inherited low brows and this can be something that bothers them even at an early age. As we age our soft tissues lose elasticity and the pull of gravity lowers our brows, creating lateral hooding of the eyes, scowl lines between our brows, and horizontal lines across our foreheads. Pass your mouse over the photo to your right to see the changes.

We reveal our emotions through our facial expressions and those expressions are greatly influenced by our eyebrows and our forehead. If your eyebrows are low, you can appear to be scowling even when you are content… you can appear to be depressed even when you are in good spirits. This is likely the reason why so many people seek to have their brows and/or forehead lifted so their expressions will better match their true emotions. Place your finger on your brows and feel for the position of the bony rim above your eye. An aesthetically pleasing brow is usally right above that rim of your eye socket. If you slightly lift the skin up, you can create the effect of a forehead/brow lift. You will notice that crow's feet and excess upper eyelid skin are not greatly affected by the gentle lifting of this skin. A "temporal" brow lift will slightly lift the outside corner of the eye and outer brow but usually will need to include lower eyelids.
